The exercise is...
Think of a person you know (or have known) well and make a list about them. Write down everything you can think of. Here are some ideas to get you started: incidents you remember, beliefs that they hold (or held) dear, some physical detail (hands, feet, eyes, hair, etc), music you associate with them, things they (used to) say, food they like(d), games they play(ed), something that happened at night, sounds you associate with them, a gesture they make or made, or a posture, a colour you associate with them. Include only one line or sentnece that is honest about how you feel or felt about them. Using your notes, write a poem or a short piece of prose (up to 500 words) about that person.
The ten bloggers who I'd suggest join in this exercise with me, and post what they've written on their own blogs, are blogging @ ...
- A Constant Source of Disappointment
- Belfast Metalheads reunited
- Coffee Helps
- Crime Scene NI
- ganching
- Grannymar
- My Forehead is Bleeding
- Nelly's Garden
- The Dreaming Arm
- Writing in a Twist
If you want to book the tutor who made this exercise up for your creative writing group let me know and I'll pass on her details to you.

I shall start thinking of this RIGHT NOW...
Too many people to choose from! Still, a lot can happen in 2 years and 2 months, so there's a chance that I'll be able to think of someone by then.
I'll do me besht Sir! Alas the timelimit is a little short. ;)
Here's mine.

Thanks Folks, I look forward to reading them all :-)
I have decided to ignore the advice given in the description. I shall just use the last two lines as my guide. (I am guessing the start of the description is just to get you into the flow to try and write. My problem isn't that. I can write for hours, I was vaccinated with a phonograph needle (c) Groucho)
I hope that doesn't disappoint, but there will be no heartbreaking revelations a la Nelly, for I refuse to couch confidences in prose, and open wounds that shouldn't be touched. Even now. After all this time.
So what *was* the point of the exercise you were given? As it lends itself to blogging more than proper prose. (My poetry is usually morose, and I confuse it with song lyrics while writing them.)
And where is yours? Mine will be posted soon. I should reread it first.
I like. :) That's tomorrow's post taken care of! Nicely timed, as I'm all out of ideas of my own. If only it actually picked the person for me, too...
Lord Taoist the exercise was to help us write about character.I liked the idea of making a list first as suggested and then using the list to write from.I'll post mine up soon. Mine's a short piece without a beginning and end yet which for legal reasons I'll have to change the names of the main characters.I may work on adding a story to it at sometime.
Hails, what about yer man from Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe ;-)
Character, eh? Well then, I shall write *two* now you have qualified the problem...

I went for something completely different and I have to say I enjoyed it. Thanks for the suggestion, 'twas fun!
